Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider Review
There’s nothing “smart” about the Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider. This ride-on four wheeler toy is fast gaining notoriety for its poor quality construction.
Negative reviews seem to be piling up and if they don’t stop, pretty soon the sales of this toy will tank without the slightest hope of recovery. What irritates me is that I didn’t bother to check the reviews online before forking the cash for this sorry excuse of a four wheeler toy. I only saw the web promos and they certainly did a good job of sucking me in.
The promos consisting of both videos and web copies were extremely well put together. They made the Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider look like a toy that comes in once every one thousand years! The hype was too strong to resist and I was completely fooled as a result. I went right ahead and bought it for my 4 year old nephew. My nephew was disappointed, so was I. Without even the slightest of doubt, the Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider has to be one of the most God-awful ride-on toys on the market.
Overall, I’d say this toy has a total of 8 minuses, and only a single plus point going for it. Since the cons far outweigh the pros, I’ll start with the former.

The 8 Negative Points…
Minus point 1: Incorrect Max Weight Capacity Claim
According to the box as well as the web promos, the Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider is able to accommodate a weight of up to 60 pounds max. Well, gee…my nephew, Ryan is a couple pounds shy of 30 pounds and yet, the toy couldn’t handle his weight. He’s not even half the maximum allowed weight. What the heck? Ryan sat on the vehicle hoping to ride it happily, but the darn thing won’t even budge!
So my brother and I decided to put Ryan’s little sister on the vehicle. She’s about 15 pounds lighter than his older brother. Well, lo and behold, the Smart-Quad moved forward pretty smoothly. So in reality, this toy vehicle can accommodate a child who weighs approximately 15 pounds. And that means the toy is designed for 1 – 2 year old toddlers. Also, that means, the manufacturer of this toy can’t be trusted.
Minus point 2: Incorrect Max Weight Capacity Claim
The toy is too short for Ryan who is 5 years old. Again, the promos claim that the toy is suitable for children between the ages of 5 to 7. When Ryan got on the vehicle, his feet actually touched the ground.
Minus point 3: Assembly Guide Was Not Included
I’m looking at the box right now and it says here, “full 10-page assembly guide included”. Truth is there is no assembly guide! I thoroughly checked the box, turned it upside-down and even shook it for good measure. No guide that’s supposed to be 10 pages long came out of the box. Fortunately, it wasn’t difficult to assemble the Smart-Quad. The parts were easy to identify and the process of connecting them with one another was very much straightforward.
Minus point 4: Loose Tires
All 4 tires of the Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider became loose after just two days of use. I had those tires screwed on properly, but they loosen up pretty quickly. Why is that? See minus point #5.
Minus point 5: Screws Don’t Fit Well
Yes, the screws do not fit well at all. At first, they affected all 4 tires. Soon after, the screws that keep the seat in place also became loose. Next, the vehicle’s storage compartment cover broke, and that’s also due to some loose screws. Upon closer inspection, I found out that the screws don’t really fit the holes on the vehicle.
Minus point 6: Handle Bars Broke after 14 Days
The Smart-Quad has serious durability issues. Loose tires, then various screws, and within two weeks of purchase, the handle bars broke. According to my brother, his kids weren’t playing rough with the toy. I don’t doubt that at all. While checking the loose tires, I also took a closer look at the handles and I knew they weren’t going to last very long. It was just a matter of time.
Minus point 7: Decals Came Off Easily
This issue really riled me up. Believe it or not, putting the decals on the vehicle is the most challenging part of the entire assembling process. Yup, you got that right. Like I already said, putting the Smart-Quad together wasn’t difficult. In fact, it was very straightforward. Sticking the decals was much harder because some of them were tiny. Plus, the vehicle came with tons of decals! I’m so angry that they came off so easily. It took almost 3 hours to put them all on. Those were 3 hours of my life that I could never get back!
Minus point 8: Tips Off Easily
It’s very light so the Smart-Quad tends to tip off easily. Luckily, my little nephew and niece didn’t get hurt. This issue was the last straw. My brother and I have decided to pack up this garbage 4-wheeler toy and return it to the toy store so we could get our money back.
Only a Single Redeeming Point…
Oh and before I forget, there’s that 1 plus point I mentioned earlier. The Smart-Quad Little Kid Rider isn’t pricey. It’s only $25, which is cheap for a four wheeler ride-on toy. Guess you get what you pay for. Still, for 25 bucks, I expect some value. The Smart-Quad has no value at all. Keep away from this toy folks. I plan on getting my $25 back real soon. Thanks for reading.
