In-Depth Tutorial for Purchasing the Right ATV for Kids Part 1
Planning to get an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) for your kids? My, your kids are extremely lucky, aren’t they? Back when I was a kid, my parents couldn’t even afford to buy me a bicycle. As a result, I only started learning how to ride one when I was already in my teens. I managed to save up enough money from years of doing various odd jobs such as delivering newspapers, mowing lawns, and cleaning the neighbors’ yards.
Once I had sufficient funds, I went out and bought my very first bike. Gosh, I remember feeling super ecstatic at the time. I’ll never forget that feeling – not ever! Anyway, it’s not just your kids who are lucky - mine too. You see, several months ago, I did buy a couple of kids ATVs for my two youngsters. The ATVs were purchased online and they were shipped to our place within just 4 working days.

Man, I can’t forget the looks on their faces upon unpacking those large packages. As soon as they saw the ATV boxes, they simply went screaming with joy! However, when it comes to choosing the ATVs, the experience wasn’t as joyful for me. Initially, I was completely clueless on what sort of kids ATVs I should get for my little boy and also for my little girl. Looking at the array of choices available on various online marketplaces made feel highly perplexed.
Is that what you’re feeling right now? Well, relax because we aren’t the only ones who feel that way. Heck, I don’t feel confused anymore because I did plenty of research and thus, was finally able to pinpoint ATV models that were most suitable for my two kids. And that’s the very reason why I’m putting out this article: To help you clear away all that confusion, so you could finally pick the right kids ATV and be totally happy with your purchase.

They tend to get confused rather easily due to the number of major considerations to be made before proceeding with the final purchase. What sort of “major” considerations are we talking about here? There are 4 of them.

They tend to get confused rather easily due to the number of major considerations to be made before proceeding with the final purchase. What sort of “major” considerations are we talking about here? There are 4 of them.
The 4 Major Considerations:
1) Safety Features
2) Size of the Kids ATV
3) Cost of the ATV
4) ATV’s Appearance.
S.S.C.A which stands for the above-mentioned considerations: Safety, Size, Cost, Appearance. Yes, even the latter is considered a major factor. Young children are obviously more than happy to ride ATVs that look awesome. I think size of the ATV is a factor that a lot of parents tend to err. The typical mistake many parents make in regards to this matter is by adhering to the one-size-bigger rule. It’s a sound rule when applied to other types of children’s products, such as clothing for instance.

This rule, however, shouldn’t be applied when making a decision to buy a kids ATV. It may prove to be hazardous. The one-size-bigger rule allows the child to grow into the purchased ATV progressively. Sounds good, right? The issue here is that getting a kids ATV that’s larger than the actual appropriate size for your youngster can be a very risky proposition. A larger one may prevent your youngster from accessing vital parts of the ATV such as the accelerator pad, the handles, and the brake pad in a safe and comfortable manner.
If a child has difficulties accessing the aforesaid parts during a ride, the chances of encountering a hazardous incident are sure to increase significantly. The ATV’s engine size must be taken into account as well. It’s a bad idea to simply go out and buy a children’s ATV that has been equipped with the most powerful engine. It’s for young kids after all, so don’t go crazy in this department. Just get one of those ATVs for children with 50cc capacity engine. That’s highly ideal for very young kids. It’s speedy enough for them, yet at the same time, not too dangerous that it’s prone to going out of control.
Engines with much faster capacity tend to go out of control quite easily so those are appropriate for older kids who already have some experience under their belts. Alright folks, that’s all I could cover for now. Just like what the title says, this tutorial is “in-depth”; therefore I’ll be covering the rest of it in the second part. Don’t worry. I plan on finishing the second part of this tutorial very, very soon, so please stay tuned folks.
